Built by the Spanish conquerors in 1610, this building is now on the list of American Treasures and is a Registered National Historic Landmark. It is the oldest public building in the US. Inside is housed an extensive museum collection spanning the history of Santa Fe and the Southwest. At one time all lands west of the Mississippi were governed from the Palace of the Governors when the region was still under Spanish rule.
